This article, published in the New York Times, writes about a man named Blas Omar Jaime who is working to revive his native language, Chaná, which is based in Argentina and Uruguay. The language was once believed to be extinct until Jaime revealed his knowledge of it. Since then, it has been revived, with dictionaries and online lessons being taught. Along with the language itself, the Chaná culture has also resurged. This aligns perfectly with our goals at EVI, as we are trying to raise awareness of endangered languages so their language and culture don’t go extinct.
